How do I check the version of the BlackBerry OS (Device Software) installed on my handheld? Print

Follow these steps to determine which version of the BlackBerry OS is installed on your smartphone:

  1. Open the Options application on your device (sometimes this is within a folder called Settings).

  2. Select "About" from the list.

  3. The Device Software version will be the first set of numbers on the third line.

In this example, the number shown is v4.5.0.37, which means this device is running version 4.5.

If you need to upgrade your BlackBerry to Device Software 4.5 or higher, click the following link for information:

BlackBerry OS 4.5 or higher is required in order to install and use Documents To Go. If the version of the OS on your BlackBerry is lower than 4.5, click the following link to see if an update is available from RIM:
